Cold

A Poem <3

By Vanna SkeithPublished 8 years ago 1 min read

He cried for help, but there was no one left, he was done, failed the test.

He sat there silent, drenched in tears. He can finally say aloud, what he truly fears.

Wasn’t cause she was cold, no, wasn’t cause she’s mean. It was simply cause she was a fiend.

Her conscience was faded, corrupted… Jaded.

She was broken too, you see. Used by people who required a fee.

This was no ordinary toll, no, it was the kind that leaves you with just a hole.

The ones she’s used to are all fake, only caring about what they can take.

All she’s left with is a bitter taste. So go ahead, and leave her, but do it with haste.

It’s okay, don’t give him a second look; cause now he’s taking a page from her book.

He might collapse, maybe even relapse.

Now he doesn’t think twice about making that heart ice.

Both of them, left for dead. Deaf to the sound of their hearts saying, “go ahead.”

Maybe one day they will, or maybe they don’t. All that matters now is that they won’t.
