Coffee

Woes forgotten

When it rain

It pours

Troubles?

I got plenty.

Three cars

All broken down

And one that

Should be

Looking for shorts

In an old farmhouse

Fixing it back up

Because it was

my husband’s

Childhood home

Trying to hatch

Out chicks

With shorts in the house

Two rooms electric

Completely turned off

Until we find the wire

Causing the shorts

One child still

In school

One a young adult

Still living at home

Five dogs

Running around

Two cats

Fighting for territory

Seven hens

Pecking out insects

And an old gravel drive

In need of major repair

Woes I got them to spare

But today I just don’t care

Not as long as I have my coffee

Come near, sit a spell, and listen to tales of old as I sit and rock by my fire. I'll serve you some cocoa and cookies as I tell you of the time long gone by when your Greats-greats once lived.
