Coffee for Two

The aroma of rich earth with a hint of chocolate causes my nostrils to flex.

Black-brown nectar swirls in my cup, catching the light, the way your eyes always do.

Lifted to my mouth, the wet brush against my lips reminds me of satin morning kisses.

A rush of Andean mornings washes over my tongue, undiluted and bold.

“Remember the splash of the dew, falling from the trees in Santa Rosa de Cabal?”
