My photo
When people ask me how I take it,
I make the joke: “Like my men,”
I slyly reply, winking at my husband,
who has roots in County Cork
and takes his black,
“Irish.” My love of whiskey
is no secret, so laughter follows.
I put cream and sugar in
my morning coffee—
life has forced buffets of bitterness
down my throat, and
I will not have it
in my coffee.

Enjoy your coffee, great work
Lol funny joke...nice poem, about enjoying coffee and your husband.
The way you connect the simple act of drinking coffee with such a deep reflection is wonderful. That part about life and bitterness is very true.
You are rather beguiling at times. I love whisky but without the e cos Scottish pedantry.
Cute work!
