A drink to wake you up

Discovered by goats were coffee beans

They ate them and stayed up after dark

A monk made them into a drink it seems

So in late-night prayers they could take part

On the cabinet sits the coffee pot

There is a procedure each night

First, dump out the old brew you’ve got

To make your drink right

Put in the fresh coffee grounds

Fill up the water reservoir

Push the timer button until it sounds

To wake up with a tremendous roar

Coffee is a strange drink

The caffeine wakes you up

A lot of people won’t even think

Until they’ve had a morning cup

Our society, it is a part

This stimulant we desire

Each day many start

Hoping the day it will inspire
