As I sit to drink
My parents from across me
We place our orders
"Would you like a drink?"
"Why yes, I would like a drink."
"What may I get you?"
Water's in my hand
I sip from it's tall, cold, glass
"I would like coffee."
The waitress smiles
She goes to place my order
We sit and we wait
We talk about food
We discuss education
The waitress returns
She talks about school
We went to the same high school
She laughs and smiles
We talk about grief
We talk about our sorrows
Coffee is poured out
Steam begins to rise
The scent starts to fill the air
It warms up my hands
I sip my coffee
The water rinses my mouth
Cleansing my palette
We place our orders
We decide to talk some more
Then, our food arrives
The eggs are fried hard
Hashbrowns are nice and crispy
The coffee still steams
Sugar and Creamer
Pour one of each. Maybe two.
Carefully stir it.
The plates are empty
The cups are now empty too
Now, let's pay the check
The coffee's run out
Leave a tip under the cup
The service was great

Reading this was like holding a steaming mug of coffee between my hands and inhaling it's beautiful aroma 😍
Lovely!
This made me smile :) Using the haikus and the pictures in between them made me feel like I was having a sip here and a bite there. The form lended so beautifully to the simplicity of just being able to share some coffee and a bit of breakfast with loved ones. I'm a huge lover of coffee and was sipping mine while I read this. Well done :)
