Clouds of Ire
Nature's army gathers above my head, and they spread over me, little drops of dread.
clouds of ire gather in their anger,
nature's army stands above me
she gives a signal,
and their storm falls from the sky‐
waters rise to catch the rivers that flow from my chin
the flood, has reached my neck,
this is a storm in which i cannot swim
and this sea has no light,
not any saving grace in sight
downstream from hope,
no one can hear my song‐
the valleys of my face are filled, all the day long
nature has taken her breath from me, and drowned my heart
her clouds frown a tempest over me-
i once was promised a rainbow, but‐
i'm not so sure i'll survive long enough to see
the waters of this sea that surrounds me, covers my eyes,
washing away their color‐
the surface is above me now
flooding the land which used to house my doubt
what was a drought has been saturated,
overwhelmed by the raging rapids of nature's temper‐
with her bitter sea,
she's cast away all peace,
drowned all belief,
and sunk all that was left‐
the water's are above me now,
they look calm, but‐
like me, are bereft of peace
this storm continues below the surface, but‐
i am no victim of theft,
nature takes what she gives
and she has taken from me‐
everything.
About the Creator
Josh Morgan
Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.
