Closing Time

Setting boundaries

See me here? Muggins here?

Well fool me no more,

I’m done

And throwing you out the door!

Those of you who saw someone weak;

A delicate flower,

And stomped all over,

To show me who had the power…

I’m done.

When I’d said I’d had enough,

But you took that as an open invitation

To keep poking and prodding,

Never taking into consideration,

That you can go too far.

I’m done!

I’m done with takers,

And fakers

And drama makers,

I’m done with unrealistic expectations,

Awkward situations,

And demanding relations.

I’m calling closing time

On easy access to my heart,

Now if you want access,

You best start,

Giving more than you take,

Bring some comfort and joy,

Cause I will no longer be treated,

Like one of your discarded toys.

Tossed aside when something more shiny,

Takes my tattered place,

And if you need me, which I’m sure you will,

I’m no longer open to you being in my space.
