A Pride Month Poem

Trapped within a box inside my head,

Held fast with a lock and key in a cell.

Few know the secret I am afraid to tell;

For releasing those words is my dread.

I am chained within a spider’s thread;

I want to break loose from my personal hell.

Culture and religion bound me in my shell.

Yet, I want to be free with my wings spread.

I want to be free from those who cast stones.

I yearn to say my secret aloud;

If it would change how my loved ones view me.

If the truth would make them change their tones,

Lower their stones, and with the truth become proud

For they say the truth will set you free.
