Smell the Roses

Are you really going to stop and smell the roses

Yes, this won't take long, I love their bouquet

Don't you see the problem your stopping poses

You'll make us late, we can't afford the delay

We have time to live our lives do we not

Time to enjoy a flower on a summer's eve

We once had time for flowers or have you forgot

That summer when we first did fortunately meet

'Twas in the garden down by the rippling brook

You in a swirl busily picked a spray of little white flowers

While I sitting 'neath a tree was absorbed in a book

I introduced myself and we spoke as if old friends for hours

So yes, I think a pause to drink in the olfactory gifts of nature

Is worth possibly arriving late to an uninspired economics lecture
