Cleve's Sonnet 01
Far be it from me my friend, I daresay
To advise you on the worth of living and life
For surely you knoweth better the way
To deal with chance and choice during times of strife
Hath thee not faced in battle the foes of thy state
And stood side by side with erstwhile comrades
And beaten back such exemplary models of evil incarnate
And gloried in battles won by you and other bold lads
What could there possibly be that you hesitate to face
That could cause the foul contemplation of suspending
Your contract with the gods to perpetuate the human race
Through the effontry of self harm rather than self mending
So I cannot advise you, I have no thoughts on such horror
But it is an interesting subject, let us speak again tomorrow
