Cleopatra-by-the-sea
Heart full of palm trees beating greenly against a ribcage of blue waters
Within which it is comfortably cloistered
Clouds of linen floating in to clothe eyes full of naked sky
Her blood is flocks of scarlet macaws
Running through veins of gentle wind
Carrying the scent of peach, sunscreen and
Chlorine signing ripples with its pale pungent calligraphy
Cleopatra-by-the-Sea
Heart full of orchids beating slowly against a ribcage of blue sky
Looking inward with kaleidoscope eyes
Outward towards unknown isles
Her mind is a garden of hummingbirds
And a chorus of howler monkey cries in the black perfumed night
Cleopatra-by-the-Sea
The city that is a petite sun-tanned queen
Sitting enthroned above layers of worlds
Octopus's gardens and freshwater pearls
She laughs at tomorrow and as she does
We ride the wave of her smile
As it crests and breaks against the shores of her laugh
She is dancing into nothing and never looking back
