Rest their souls

Strong willed men

at halt

in the tower

waiting for word

ready for battle

Soft earth below

in a bog

to wait

for a slow march

through sinking land

Fighting in the rain

heavy legs

and broken backs

clawing out a path

seeking an end

At stance they hold

one final stretch

cross a shallow field

men at your door

die fast on a cloudy day

An old man guides

retched souls align

never back down

protect your fellow man

eyes open and ready

They believe in hope

pray for another chance

never back down

damn us all

and God save the Queen
