Christmas Wishes

For Christmas’ Past

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Cigarettes burn

And stars fall from the heavens

My soul longingly yearns

For your heart to remember

What it was, what we had

When we still fanned the embers

And the ways that we laughed

Through the days of December

Birthday celebrations

Preparing for Christmas

Well wished invitations

And red inked circled wish lists

The magical glow

Of the tree through the window

The red velvet bows

On the gifts nestled below it

The soft, fragrant fir

Dressed in tinsel and lights

Quietly and still

Bringing joyous delight

What a peaceful easy feeling

And spectacular sight

As you traditionally read

And to all a good night

Oh, to relive those moments

And have you here with me

All my wishes I’d spend

To find you there by my tree
