Christmas Snow

A poem

By Rasma RaistersPublished about a month ago 1 min read

Christmas gets closer,

no snow in my Florida world,

but oh, those memories,

of dark green fir and pine trees -

wearing coats of white.

We wander into the woods,

footprints left behind in the snow,

my hand holding tight to my love -

a silent white world, the sky wintry gray.

The plop of snow from a tree branch

and a squirrel scampering by.

We look to cut evergreen branches,

to make that Advent wreath,

to start off the holiday season.

The tick of a clock

fast forward me to today,

blue skies, sun shining,

palm trees waving in the breeze.

I blink my eyes,

while in my mind I’m in that,

long ago snowy world -

feeling the joy of Christmas snow.
