Chopped down by wicked Council men
A beautiful tree is gone.

Chopped down by wicked men
The tree stood, witnessing everyday life
Snowfall, rain, wind, and thunderstorms.
It survived year after year,
Growing old in a town of poverty, pain, and death.
This tree saw the afterlife, the angels’ love,
It witnessed laughter, romance, and wind.
It grew old—
So old, and knowledgeable,
A gift from God for the birds to nest and rest.
This tree survived life’s cruelest test.Time.
This tree was old, it was beautiful, it was alive.
Yet man, not nature, chose its fate.
Not the winds, not the years, not the storms—
But hands with no knowledge of what it had seen.
Now the birds return, searching in vain,
The wind still hums, but it’s not the same.
Children who played in its shade now mourn,
For the roots remain, but the heart is torn.
Gone from the earth, but not from the past,
A silent witness, a love meant to last.
My photograph proof this tree lived on
Till a workman’s van came, felled it. It’s gone?

Sad that a beautiful tree was cut for no reason
The only good reason to chop down an old tree if it was a danger to whomever and was rotten. It was a beautiful tree, and it is a shame to see it gone. It looked like a good climbing tree too. Good job.
