Choking

... the viscous fluid fills my mouth

Sliding down my throat

Choking my screams

Desperate pleas

Tears streaming as I slowly sink

Acceptance of my fate sets in

I inhale deeply and succumb

The darkness filling the void in me

Finality of peace

Complacency ripped away from me

Torn from my eternal embrace

Into the warmth of your grace

Heaving silent sobs into your chest

Feeling as though I can finally rest

Clinging desperately to your lies

Venom behind your eyes

Caustic words that burn with each utterance

Wrapping me in comforting lead

Threatening to drown again

Empty promises whispered with mock sincerity

Foundation crumbling beneath my feet

Falling in the endless cycle

My body lands in the ichor once again

My outstretched arms clawing at the air

Reaching for you, begging for you

Sinking into the endless murk

As... the viscous fluid fills my mouth
