I Wasn't Expecting You

.

By Tiffany L GaleskiPublished 5 months ago Updated 5 months ago 1 min read

I wasn't expecting to sink so utterly into your eyes

So full of light and warmth

They haunt me with their veracity

Infinite spires bearing your soul

I wasn't expecting to surrender to your lips

Beckoning and soft, tempting tenderness

Engulfed in every tranquil breath and dulcet moan

The taste of longing cloying in my throat

I wasn’t expecting to drink in your essence so completely

Heart on display like an offering to the gods

Palpitating with anticipation of receipt

Rhythmic music in the arcadian night

I wasn’t expecting my walls to fall so easily

Vulnerability on display for you alone

The gnawing emptiness inside me receding

Desperately yearning for your touch

I wasn’t expecting ardor as desideratum

Or the ease with which I could melt into your embrace

Contented in this moment to surrender to caprice

Caressed by a stranger I’ve known all my life

I wasn’t expecting you
