Chilled Drinks & Cloud Shapes - Relaxing with Family
Highlight of my Day
The drifting cloud tells the story.
An inner child awakens.
And imagination runs wild.
It is a sunny day and I'm hanging around with my lovely sister-in-law. It has been a while since we last met. It is nice to take a break from busy life for friends and family - so here I am. Deciding against going out in this temperature we planned on hanging around in the backyard by the pool surrounded by nature with chilled drinks.
Spreading the sheet over the benches under the shade of a tall oak tree, we laid back gazing up at the clear blue sky. Taking a sip of chilled orange juice I let the citrus tinge run across my tongue enjoying the cooling sensation as it went down my throat. Looking over I saw my sister-in-law enjoying her lemon-lime drink.
Turning my gaze back to the clear blue sky I watched the fluffy white clouds lazily drifting by. We began pointing around how we perceived the passing clouds looked like. For me one of the clouds looked like pokemon jigglypuff but to her it was a over boiling pot.
Another one that seemed like a hat from 90's to me was a plate of pudding to her. We laughed and shared stories as we tried to spot out the different animals, objects and characters in the ever changing shapes of clouds. The time seemed to have slowed down to give us time to indulge in our childish behaviour. We lost ourselves in the simple pleasure of watching the drifting clouds and letting our imagination run wild.
I was already on my second drink but by now the sun was beginning to set, casting a warm golden glow across the backyard. We realized we list track of time and spent hours cloud gazing and running our imagination wild. Sitting up we folded the sheet and grabbed the empty glasses and headed inside. A calm, content feeling that made me feel light and fuzzy was just what I needed. I am really grateful for this childish moments that we shared together - it's a whole another level of relaxing.
For both of us cloud gazing is a favourite pastime - it's like a magical way to escape the hustle bustle of a busy everyday life and connect with our inner child and the beauty and the wonder of the natural world.
I think in this fast-paced world slow moments like these ahould be appreciated and indulged in once a while.
