Children are no longer taught respect

A change in society that benefits no one

I grew up in a world

Where boys and girls

Were raised to respect those who were older

We said please and thank you

Yes maam and yes sir

But today disrespect has become bolder

Society moves on

Embraces the changes

And no one seems to care

Cursing a senior

Or threatening to fight

Is something I never would have dared

My generation was told

Kindness would be reciprocated

When we reached senior age

We listen to the elder's wisdom

But today, some young folk greet advice

With negativity, threats, and rage

Parents used to back teachers

When children were disciplined

Today they say their kids are right

Schools allow students

Tod dispres-pect staff

And parents to threaten lawsuits or fights

It's sad to see this change in attitude

Everyone accepts disrespect

As the new way of life

For older adults Who new a better way

It's sad to see so much strife
