Childhood Sweethearts

Love's Journey to Old Age

Childhood Sweethearts By - Rajesh Kumar Giri

Beneath a canopy of summer leaves we met,

Childhood sweethearts, with dreams not yet set.

Scraped knees and dandelion wishes we shared,

A love so innocent, a future uncared.

Teenage whispers, stolen glances shy,

Fumbling confessions beneath a twilight sky.

First heartbreak's sting, a tear quickly dried,

Promises whispered, forever tied.

Life's winding road took us on its bend,

Careers chased, dreams we'd defend.

Hands intertwined through triumphs and fears,

Laughter echoing down the passing years.

Wrinkled hands now, where once youth did reside,

But love's warm embers still brightly confide.

Silver strands whisper tales silently told,

An amalgam of time, a love that unfolds.
