Charity Starts At Home

Moving Forward

By Earl W. PearlPublished 2 years ago Updated 2 years ago 1 min read

We used to have the work before we moved it overseas

Then profits mixed with politics created this disease

Decisions made in Washington were absolutely flawed

How stupid was America to ship our work abroad

With corporate leaders crying that they simply can’t compete

It’s cheaper in the countries using “slaves” that they’ll mistreat

Labor forced from children for a wage that isn’t fair

Yet somehow we’re not guilty since it happens over there

We should have introduced a tax to maximize our yield

A tax for sending work abroad would level up the field

Removing the incentive for those shipping work away

Removes the disadvantage for those businesses to stay

So what if at the very least, to even up some scores

They’ll be no U.S. industries that leave our blessèd shores

We exported our future and it took us way off track

Now how about a president who works to get it back

We need that politician who can plot a steady course

That person who’s equipped to make us once again a force

So where’s that special someone who will fight and never stop

That person whose commitment puts our nation back on top
