a poem

By Aaron MorrisonPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

Does anyone know how to start a new game?

Or at least how to load up a previous save?

Made some bad choices

That’s got me running in circles

Jumping hurdles

That I thought I cleared yesterday

I'm not strong enough

To fight my way through

And not dexterous enough

To dodge all my issues

Don't have the smarts or the charm

To speak without fumbling

I'm stumbling

My words are as tangled as my blundering feet

So every day now is just rinse and repeat

Got me feeling something quite like an NPC

But I’m doing my best

To break the routine

And if I can’t adventure

I could be a quest giver

That would be something at least

Yellow punctuation carefully inked

Signifies our stories might be intrinsically linked

Yes there’s still a pattern

And the dialogue loops

And it’s level gated

And there’s plenty of hoops

But it could be worse

It can always be worse

Is it fate or our complacency

That’s got us chasing tales

Living through others

Comparison smothers

Maybe tomorrow

I'll start writing my own
