Changes And The Debts Paid

A poem about love and memories in a dark time.

Hardly would I ever have believed

To see what started in such a paradise

Never thinking it could happen left me relieved

A broken young heart can still be healed

Never dreaming it would heal to be crushed

Discarded like a fruit just pealed

The touch of your hand in mine, all it ever took

You filled the empty hole in me

On the worst day, to feel the sun's light from you giving a look

What beauty you brought to such ugly pictures in the mind

A tortured soul which never believed

Shocked it was to find someone so loving and kind

Lost in the deepest well of your inviting eyes

Remembering what was didn't have to be

Your presence turned my soul into one reaching the skies

The sweetest of embrace made this retch feel like a king

Forever shall I remember

Still looking for that spot which once held a ring

Changed into something rancid and vile before all who could see

Tortured and torched the world as you were leaving it behind

A whirlwind of pain and suffering left by thee

To survive such a fate with so many questions left in your wake

Never falling out of the trap that was you

Such feelings of freedom from that pain always fake

What did you do

Why did you choose me

The knife left a scar, and a receipt still do

Trust when they say, it all comes around

Never forget what evils you have done

When it lands on your head, I won't be found

Done with the demons and all the vapid nights

Escaped, finally I have

Returning the evil to you, done beneath the bright lights

Karma comes for us all

Watched you never change a bit

This time, the demon will fall

I pray that you write this from the powers of a vivid imagination & not from experience, though I know that experience to be far too common amongst all the creatures of both heaven & hell.
