Ceaseless rejoicing!

Rejoice, be glad, throughout the night

Through bitter tears and pain despite,

Though desolate places wear and tear,

Rejoice, be glad, through uplifted prayer,

Rejoice, be glad, throughout the rain,

Where thunder cackles despite the pain,

Though the shadows come to creep,

Rejoice, be glad, no need to weep!

Rejoice, be glad, throughout your stay,

Through terrible seasons cause you to dismay,

Rejoice, be glad, through times to wait,

Through undeserved abuse and vile hate,

Rejoice, be glad, throughout this time,

Through song, and beat, and rhythm, and rhyme,

Rejoice, be glad, your heart now strong,

The spirit burns through word and song,

Rejoice, be glad, though all seems lost,

Where every move seems at a cost,

Rejoice, be glad, do not be afraid, nor fear,

For the daylights drawing is all but near!
