Caught in the Spell

Regaining control

The fiery rage explodes;

memory flashes, bubbles, froth, and rise.

Water boils over in the copper kettle

flames spit cartoonishly

from the base of my clapping skull cap.

~~~
Dishes audibly spin in the cabinets
till they fly through the
etched glass doors, shattering on the carpet.
~~~

I cling unsteadily to the back of a chair,

barely allowing air to whistle through pressed lips

squeaking between firmly clenched teeth

unable to hold back stinging salty tears.

~~~
Lights flickering until bulbs burst
sparks spew around me.
Pressure continues to build.
Fear ballooning, steadily expanding.
~~~

So, I clutch

at whatever I find near,

a highball…

Grasping it in two hands

all it takes is one quick motion --

I force a shear cleave.

~~~
A glass-shattering scream
even I can hear
streams from my open mouth
piercing crystal and
bleeding the ear.
~~~

I reconnoiter my surround.

To my great astonishment, all is well,

but for the single glass

worth of shards

covering my bare feet.

I limp away from the scene

hands dripping

you've yet again wounded me.

~~~
I never saw it coming
could this evil spell have
assailed telepathically?
a quantum leap from the past
to destroy me?
~~~

Upon review

I've built up your power

you're just stalking me

through my window.

A pathetic peeping tom

in the grass on my lawn.

Git - or I'll turn on the hose,

be gone with ye…

  • Wow… just wow. ✨ Your words truly cast a spell over me. 🪄 The rhythm flowed like a haunting lullaby 🌙, and I could feel every emotion rising like smoke from a candle's flame. 🕯️🔥 The imagery? Absolutely enchanting. 🌌 The way you describe the pull, the surrender, the mystical bond—it wrapped around me like velvet shadows. 🖤🪶
