Caught in the Drugs World

A life where there is no escaping. Sex, drugs, and pain.

Caught in the Drugs World

Caught in the drugs world

from the day I was born.

Dad was found dead

on that very same morn.

Mother was hooked,

my life full of neglect.

I truly hate that woman,

for her I have no respect.

A house full of men

for sex and crack.

Social services took me away.

Never going back.

Then my life changed

for the worse,

by sixteen I too was hooked—

a dramatic change for the worse.

By twenty, I slept

on the street shop doorways,

my bed for the night.

By fifty, a prostitute

to pay for my fix.

In and out of rehab,

nothing ever worked.

By seventy, here I am—

my life full of crack

and dirty men.

If I could have my life over

once more,

I would probably do the same

over again.

Because born in a drugs den,

die by the curse.

Worrying about my next fix—

it’s a horrible life.

So gather and hear

my warning, so clear:

If you’re offered a choice,

go for happiness without tears.

Please Note, this is just a poem not part of me or my life, in any way at all.

Good job on a poem that could be used in a high school health class study Drug Abuse and other issues of the time.
