there is a green caterpillar in my mental garden
he is very hungry
he won’t stop munching
I’ve tried to remove him many times
he’s pretty fucking fast though
he can decimate a tomato plant thought in a day
it’s necessary to eliminate the pests
for my budding brain to blossom
I try to prune the dead leaf defense mechanisms he has eaten through
cast aside the lazy branches of defeat
in order to replace them with motivational sprouts and inspiring seedlings
and with enough work, one day, all that will remain
will be the fruits of my labor
shall I blame the bug for my garden’s sickness
or the gardener that will not take the time to see the caterpillar,
much less remove it
