Cat Tree

Tree finally erected, lights gloriously lit

Cat finds the branches a nice place to sit

Sharpening claws on her new brand new toy

At least she’s full of purrfect feline joy

Dog saw tree, lifted his leg

Too late “don’t pee” I loudly beg

Mom’s favorite ornament lights up top

Urine on the plug… It all goes POP!

Sharp colorful shards litter floor

Cut my foot on piece by the door

Stacked presents wrapped green, red, blue

Scattered and shredded by you know who

Broom a weapon, chase the rascals out

Tell the kiddies not to pout

Back to the tree yard I now go

Another evergreen for our show

Best firs already been and gone

So it’s Charlie Brown Xmas on the lawn

It’s okay kiddies, not to worry

You’ll still have your Xmas flurry

With or without a lovely tree

Santa will visit you and me
