a poem

If I do not see tomorrow, that's okay

I have lived and loved and laughed my way

through years of struggle and change in depression gray.

If I am walking toward my own decay,

I ask that you do not beg for me to stay.

I have chosen my path, come what may.

I am taking a chance you cannot sway,

leaving all that I've known and going away

because after a while, this place starts to weigh

on the soul in ways I cannot replay.

So if I do not see tomorrow, it's the price that I'll pay

for refusing to fall an easy prey,

and choosing to live life for today.
