Who are you after the portrait is finished?

Excuse me,

Can I draw you?

I'll illustrate every word you say.

I can punctuate your passions,

Pitting peaches beneath a setting sun.

Your lips cut the tension,

Between gentle and afraid,

Becoming all the shades of a wave yet to break.

So, why won't you?

Dance with me,

Please just take my hand.

Feel your breath melting to the tune of time

Lose your footing,

At the shove of mine.

Drown your perception on a dime.

You couldn't fit into their apologies,

Because you'd never lie.

Now tell me,

How do you prefer the blush of your cheeks,

Under a pale moonlit sky?

Pink like the hearts you scribbled as a kid,

Or red as the roses wilting at your bedside.

I digress,

But does he catch your eye?

You'll never guess what I did with mine.
