Care by Candlelight
A Poem on the importance of Self-care
Introduction
I speak for most when I state that we have been taught to put others before ourselves.
To do the opposite, say grandma, dad or mum, is to be self-centered.
Yet we have to ponder the air stewardess who teaches in-flight safety procedures.
She advocates putting on the life jacket for oneself before putting it on for one's child.
The concept makes total sense. Children require our care. How can we save them in a dire situation if we do not care for ourselves first?
So caring for the self is not selfish- rather, it reflects responsibility.
A little candle light is self-care. The hypnotic, waving flame is calming.
Enjoy this cinquain.
The light
Of candles waves
Burning flame soothes the soul
Chstised, weary, feeble and worn
Tired
The light
Bright yet gentle,
Soothes the Anger who seethes
And residesI in acromony
In self.
The light
Burns with fervour
Burns strong and stable
The ring of wax it releases
Sets bounds
The light
Shimmers with love
For crucial sake of self
To light for self before others
Burns on.

Self care reflects responsibility. That's so true! Loved your Cinquains!
I enjoyed this Michelle. I also resonated with it quite a bit. Well done.
