Cardboard Crown

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

[Verse]

You wear your crown of cardboard pride

With eyes so closed tight

To the world outside

Every truth bends

Every fact hides

Point your finger

Crack a grin

You think you always win

You think you always win

[Chorus]

The mirror laughs back

Oh, oh it only laughs at you

Every joke you throw cuts you in two

You’re the fool but you can’t see

You call it wisdom, we call it idiocy

We call it idiocy

[Verse 2]

Your words like shouts in an empty jar

You think you’re the sun

You think you're a star

But really, you're just falling fast

And no one cares who you are

So point your finger

Crack that grin

You think you always win

You think you always win

[Chorus]

The mirror laughs back

Oh, oh it only laughs at you

Every joke you throw cuts you in two

You’re the fool but you can’t see

You call it wisdom,

We call it idiocy

We call it idiocy
