(our lies)

i dug a hole

in your arms

and i lie in it

even when you are

not there.

the taste of you

lingers

on my lips

and i swallow your lies

like sticky candy,

suck the apathy

you spit in my mouth.

i say you are mine

because for a moment

you are

and you tell me

you love me

but you love

how i make you feel.

we both know we shouldn’t

but we do.

every night

i pull you closer

until i can no longer

breathe

and then we lie in

a tangle of lies

and sweat

wanting to forget

and wanting remember.

i can’t stay away

even if i wanted to.
