Candle and Smoke
A Sonnet on Love and Its Shadows

I held you like a delicate flame,
A fragile glow that darkness dared not tame.
You radiated warmth, yet time slipped by,
A cherished warmth, a wound that won’t comply.
We danced on the edge of existence’s line,
Dusk and dawn intertwined, joy and sorrow entwine.
Your laughter echoed in my mind’s grand hall,
A bell that rang once, never to call.
Yet, I hold onto the light you left behind,
As shadows stretch and silence stains the mind.
Love doesn’t end—it learns to blind,
To kiss with ashes, hold with bare fingers entwined.
So, here I stand, with memory aglow,
Both candlelight and all that it let go.
