Does a person need close friends?

Can someone go through life

Without any close friends?

All the experts say no

If you are a normal person.

I think you can although

I may not be normal.

I don’t make friends easy.

Most of the ones I had

I had known since High School.

They all started to slowly fall away.

Some of it was just drifting apart

After High School and College.

Then the final break.

Someone I had known

20 years decide they

Needed a break from me,

Which hurt a little at first.

I think more out of shock

And maybe a little of I knew

It would happen eventually.

So now I am friendless.

I have acquaintances

But no best friend.

I am going everywhere

By myself.

Do I sometimes wish I had

Someone to go with me.

That would be a yes but

Not for the reasons

You would think.

It would be nice to have

Someone else drive

And to get drinks.

Especially at the small

Venues where I am

Afraid to move from the front.

Told you I was not normal.

I am perfectly fine.

Making friends as an

Adult is hard.

Especially when you have

Autism and an IDGAF attitude

Towards things.

I am very good at masking.

Basically, pretending I care.

I know not normal.

Could a normal person go

Through life without friends

Probably not.

Can I absolutely.
