Poetry about nature

How I miss the days so often

When I’d camp out with my friends

Waking up to see the sunlight

Peeking out above the mountains

A warm hint of orange and yellow

The wind caressing my cheeks

Fresh coffee brewed in early mornings

Or the nights when we’d set the woods in place

And let the warm ember glow faintly in the dark

Roast our marshmallows and make s’mores

Chatter away and tell our stories

Sad or happy, maybe even fascinating

The feeling of knowing we are all loved

And we are all here

Together, so alive

Breathing the same air

Having fun

Escaping reality

Be wherever we want to be

Not letting life get in the way

For once.

And that is what I miss.

Freedom and happiness.

Pure happiness.
