Cafe A-Latte!

A love affair

By Jessica VarvilPublished 6 months ago 1 min read

My slitted eyelids halfway shut still,

They epitomize apathy and fatigue.

I rub my bloodshot eyes that feel as itchy as a wool sweater.

I sit up from my comfy bed and daydream about my first love.

My dear, sweet coffee.

Black, mysterious liquid with notes of caramel, chocolate and vanilla.

A whiff of cigarette smoke is detected in the French Roast.

The steamed milk’s froth is a hug in a mug.

Without my beloved beverage of choice, boredom would prevail.

Productivity in a cup,

I delight in your wonderment.

Deep, espresso bean juice fueling my lethargic body first thing.

A deep yearning for a psychoactive substance that is warm and comforting.

Regulating my equilibrium.

Keeping my eyes bright and alert.

Setting my nerves back to factory settings.

For Fun
