Cacti Blooms

Lessons from the thorns

By Natasha CollazoPublished 8 months ago Updated 8 months ago 1 min read
The cacti blooms of today.

There’s bad moments and then there’s bad days.

Days—when something in your life suddenly changes, drastically.

And now you have to learn to live all over again,

but you don’t even know how to do that.

That thing, that is so bad took a piece of you with it.

You realize this.

And the grave awakening that you are in;

fight or flight.

After awhile you’re ready to end it.

All.

And a little while after that, you just exist.

And a little while after that,

you begin.

Again.

From scratch.

There’s a drought.

Then there’s rain.

And what happens next,

starts to all make sense…

Of why it all happened in the first place.

You bloom amongst the pricks,

and often, that’s the most powerful

sight there is.

Love this one Sunny! 'You bloom amongst the pricks' I can feel your strength and can relate to having to rebuild yourself. Great job!

Such strength in the last lines, really love this, Natasha

  • Whoaaa, this was so powerful and profound. Loved your poem!

  • Love the double entendre whether intended or not of, "You bloom amongst the pricks...." Feeling that ache that's so deep you're not sure you'll ever come out the other side, but continuing to trust that you will.
