Cackleberries
A sonnet inspired by Penny Fuller's Part C: The A-Z of Unusual Words
My word for this one: Cackleberries- A fun little word for eggs
My Connection: I absolutely love eggs, especially if they're farm fresh. I'm a fan of all kinds, but chicken eggs are easiest to find, of course.
Cackleberrries
My best days begin with cackleberries
O'er easy on my plate with runny yolks,
But however preparation varies,
Please, keep the presentation messy, folks!
~
If you'd offer me a Benedict egg,
Canadian bacon and Hollandaise
Poach it softly, let its surface fair beg
To drench the muffin whereupon it lays.
~
Serve an omelet with any filling
Embellish it with good, sharp cheddar cheese,
But don't serve to me, unless you're willing
To leave some moisture in the wrapper, please!
~
The key, you see, is plain in my cookbook:
Don't let your cackleberries overcook.
