But You Said

And I listened

But You Said

You cried helplessly

But you said you were okay

You pounded your fists

But you said you weren’t angry

I offered to talk

But you said it was a waste

I tried to hold you

But you said you needed space

Walked to the doorway

But you said that I should stay

I wanted to leave

But you said that you loved me
