Burning City

A city ablaze.

Original Version

Endless fiery flames burning

as bright as a thousand suns

stretching as far as the eye can see.

Once proud buildings now ablaze,

in shambles because of the flames.

Darkness no longer creeps

in the endless sea of flames.

The ground broken into pieces

as gravel plunges into the abyss.

Buildings fall in the distance,

Never to be seen again.

A person stands on the other side in the inferno,

flames erupt from his flesh

burning them down to a crisp.

Cracks form in the ground

breaking apart plunging me into the abyss.

New Version

Endless fiery flames burning

as bright as a thousand suns

stretching as far as the eye can see.

Once proud buildings swept in the raging inferno

Creating a landscape known as hell.

Darkness no longer creeps

in this land that was once my home.

I run away from the madness

as explosions sound off in the distance.

Buildings fall shaking the very Earth.

I fall down onto the jagged street.

All my bones crying in agony.

As the flames roar, all around me.

The sound of helicopter blades close in.

Echoed by the laughter of a madman.

I burst into tears as he climbs down

and grabs me

and takes me to parts unknown.
