I burned you a mixtape but
You didn’t like it
And I didn’t get why not
You loved Juice and
Give you the world— I tried —
And I tried too
Do everything to sound just like him
I swear I was— close.
I guess it’s just my stuff you don’t vibe with
You tell me it’s not vibrant, enough,
there are no darker colors than purple and suicide
by accident.
I let what happened between us dictate how I acted
And yet, at this rate
the distance growing between us might cause an accident
I just don’t know when that would happen, yet
So I burn you another mixtape,
This time asking only that you hold onto your laughter a little longer
Like coddling,
my nerves are clamoring about.
I’m passionate
A little stronger in emotional response
About my craft
So listen when I say I take criticism to heart
But more so it’s the thought of you listening that counts
To infinity
I’m beyond my limits
and behind on paying more than my
fair share in emotional taxes
My emotions are bracketed now
Shackled fashionably
I keep them on rubber checks
Bouncing causes imbalance if you let it
Inaccurate like the X’s mark is just a metaphoric representation
And you say music is your language
So I’m reminded that mine is song as dance
I guess somethings translate differently
And I hope this time I understand, proper.
If not, don’t bother listening just
Burn you a mixtape
About the Creator
Dan-O Vizzini
Has anyone else just been making it up as they go along? Have you gotten so far from where you started that finding your way back seems impossible?
Well— reach.
Power when exercised properly is a beautiful thing.
