Brownish Owl

A Haikuplet on our relationship to justice

This is for Poppy’s ‘fair’ prompt and Kenny Penn’s Haikuplet challenge. Do join in the fun!

Asking whether a person has been on the receiving end of mistreatment is rhetorical. We have all been on that end.

We have no jurisdiction over how others respond to us, but we have control over ours.

That control has to be earned, however. It takes some looking inward, boundaries, and empathy.

The owl represents our relationship to justice. We could be hapless and let it overtake us, or seek fairness and do the opposite.

Enjoy this little haikuplet.

Shady, brownish owl

Round eyes peer at hapless worms

Countless pecks from beak

Worms grip firm tree’s branch

Crawling boldly over feet

Fair owl embraces.
