Broken

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 6 months ago 1 min read

[Verse]

You found me broken on the cold

Hard floor

A shadow of someone I was before

You reached through the darkness

Held out your hand

Pulled me to places I could barely stand

[Chorus]

You loved me when I couldn’t love myself

You saw a fighter in the pain I felt

You held me together when I fell apart

Built me piece by piece

Mended my heart

[Verse 2]

The mirror whispered lies I believed

But you saw beauty underneath the grief

Your voice

A light

Cutting through the night

You gave me wings when I’d lost my fight

[Chorus]

You loved me when I couldn’t love myself

You saw a fighter in the pain I felt

You held me together when I fell apart

Built me piece by piece

Mended my heart

[Bridge]

These scars

They shine like a map of my war

Every crack

A place where I was restored

I wear them proud

They tell my tale

Proof that with love

I’ll always prevail

[Chorus]

You loved me when I couldn’t love myself

You saw a fighter in the pain I felt

You held me together when I fell apart

Built me piece by piece

Mended my heart

that's exactly how I felt about my second husband. I met him at a time in my life when I need emotional support. He was always there for me. GREAT poem
