Broken Promises

A Poem of Heartbreak and Betrayal

By Tamseela FarooqPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

I gave you all my heart, my love, my trust,
But you chose to leave me here, broken and bust.
I poured my soul into our love, every ounce,
But you shattered it all with your callous renounce.

How could you do this to me, my love?
Leave me here to pick up the pieces, alone, and shove
Me into the depths of pain and despair,
Leaving me with nothing but heartbreak to bear.

I thought we had something special, something real,
But you proved me wrong, with your deceiving zeal.
I put all my faith in you, my heart on my sleeve,
But you took it all for granted, and made me grieve.

Now I'm picking up the pieces, one by one,
Trying to mend my broken heart, undone.
But the scars you left me with will never heal,
And the pain you caused me will always be real.

So I say goodbye to you, my love, my past,
And move on to a future, where love will last.
Without you, I'll find happiness, I'll find peace,
And the broken promises you made, will finally cease.
