Broken Pinata

The battery of mental health

By Natalie FelixPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

It's hard to push through the stigma

And the feeling of being punished for being ill

For a neurological disorder you never asked for

I cannot for the life of me change the past

And changing the present takes

Time

Patience

Focus

Assistance

Independence

Rationality

And being an adult rarely has all those at once

Your focus is pulled in many directions most of the time

And time...it slips away faster and faster each year

Patience comes and goes

Ask those with a horrible boss

Or lots of children under 10

As for the rest its a pinata really

Not a box of chocolates you delicately open

Living with mental health issues as an adult

Is a pinata waiting to be battered with a cardboard bat

And you never know what you're going to get
