Broken but not Lost

A Christmas decoration becomes a source of holiday sadness.

Little fragments of the ornament scattered.

It felt like my mind broke into pieces.

This particular adornment just mattered.

The pain, to this day, never ceases.

The gold and red spinning ornament died.

So I gathered each and every jagged part.

At least this was my ritual when I tried.

It had been mine from the absolute start.

I imagined that I could maybe glue

Everything back in place.

I attempted to make it true.

I was just as hurt, as tears stained my face.

Christmas will be mocked completely now.

It will not be a total ‘why?’ but ‘how?’
