Broken
By: Dezireé E Joe-Shorty
You’ve felt how unfriendly the night can be,
The unwelcoming of an abandoned home.
You had people leave that were supposed to stay.
You've witnessed love so unkind.
You've confessed your story slowly & in pieces,
Your voice shaking with your heart breaking.
I’ve wiped your tears,
I held you while you let go.
I see you, I’ve seen you.
Your hands are worn and tattered,
I can only imagine what your heart beholds.
Pleading for a love that is eternal,
That remains,
That can heal.
I know you’ve been hurt,
I know you’re broken,
And I want to fill those empty spaces,
Love you whole again.
