Brightness Cresting

their light touching our surface

By JJ JorgensenPublished 6 months ago 1 min read

BRIGHTNESS CRESTING

The day turned dark as rain poured in,

an unexpected fury, so much power within.

There was no time for warnings, nor even a call,

as powerful water would take big, and take small.

Harsh crying was heard by parents still ashore,

as the storm unrepented taking breath and much more.

Angels were noticed, dashing in and spreading Light,

and innocent souls were carried safely in flight.

The river was easing, and darkness would soon depart,

as the search began for loved ones, with anguish in heart,

“I saw the brightness cresting,” a lone survivor did call,

“The angels took the good ones, the big and the small.”

I sit writing poetry with tears falling from my eyes,

as I think about the heartbreak that gushed down from the skies.

Children, such sweet children, Angels carried from the tide,

their light to shine forever hopeful touching hearts, both far and wide.
